Celerate Jubilee Weekend at Gardens by the Bay as Singapore Legends come to Life!

The mythical Merlion, the explorer prince Sang Nila Utama, Badang the strong man and the filial princess Radin Mas – see how these colourful characters of local legends are brought to life with the help of more than 8,000 orchids and plants in the floral display, “From Tales to Legends: Discover Singapore Stories”. “Singapore Stories” is just one highlight of the SG50 celebrations at the Gardens. Gardens by the Bay and Au​demars Piguet unveil Singapore’s largest and only floral clock

As the nation ge​ars up to cele​brate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee this weekend, Gardens by the Bay and Audemars Piguet have come together to commemorate the occasion with the unveiling of Singapore’s only sizable public floral clock. Blending timekeeping precision with botanical artistry, the Floral Clock was unveiled by Minister for National Development, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, together with Dr Kiat W. Tan, CEO of Gardens by the Bay, and Mr Oliviero Bottinelli, Member of the Board of Directors, Audemars Piguet Holding SA. Displayed prominently in the Gardens, at the intersection between the cooled conservatoires and the Supertree Grove, the seven-metre-wide Floral Clock draws inspiration from the signature characteristics of Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak collection and fuses traditional and contemporary landscaping elements in its design. Featuring tropical plants with coloured foliage and flowers, its plant palette will be refreshed regularly for the public to enjoy. Singapore’s Iconic Cable Car Opens New Line on Sentosa Island

The new Sentosa Line, a $78 million investment, will now allow guests to connect from Merlion Plaza to Siloso Point, on the western tip of the island. In line with SDC’s constant efforts to refresh the offerings on the island, the new line is one of several infrastructural enhancements that SDC has embarked on to enhance connectivity and accessibility on the island. There are three cable car stations servicing the new Sentosa Line – the Merlion, Imbiah Lookout and Siloso Point Stations. Guests riding on this new line can conveniently make their way between the island’s many attractions and F&B offerings, while enjoying exceptional views over Sentosa’s tree canopy and Siloso Beach. Guests who wish to ride on both Lines are able to buy the Cable Car Sky Pass with an option to top up for unlimited rides. Flowery Fun Times in the Gardens this June Holidays

Take a walk down memory lane this June Holiday and have some Flowery Fun Times at Gardens by the Bay! Starting 22 May, Gardens by the Bay latest floral display bring to life beloved characters from your favourite nursery rhymes. Come meet Mary and her little lamb, the old lady in her shoe, Old MacDonald with his farm animals and Humpty Dumpty before his fall. Other than the usual nursery rhymes that we are all familiar with, there’s also a section with nursery rhymes from all the different races in Singapore. Are you able to tell which are they from the display below? Can you tell which chinese nursery rhymes does this belong to? Gardens by the Bay ushers in the Lunar New Year with “Asian Tales” Flower Field Display

Gardens by the Bay ushers in the Lunar New Year with “Asian Tales”, starting 16 January 2015.  Entitled “Asian Tales”, this floral showcase draws inspiration from the scenic landscape of mountains and valleys often depicted in Chinese brush paintings.   Spot goats sculpted out of wood and flowers perching on the ridge and grazing in the field, as you take in the picturesque landscape dotted with vibrant dahlias (大丽花) specially cultivated to celebrate the Year of the Goat. Gardens by the Bay will be packed with programmes to usher in the Lunar New Year over 2 weekends with Spring Surprise, part of the signature Garden Series presented by Gardens by the Bay. Visitors can also try their hands at Chinese calligraphy, masks, paper cut outs, and more, at the interesting craft booths that will run from 17 to 25 January. Tulipmania Returns to Gardens by the Bay!

Singapore’s most popular tulip display, Tulipmania, is back for the second time at Gardens by the Bay. I missed it last year and this year i’m not gonna miss it! 😀 From now till 4 May 2014, the Flower Field within the Flower Dome will transform into a garden of tulips, this time bringing a “mini Holland” to Singapore. With more tulip bulbs on display this year compared to Tulipmania’s debut in 2013, the captivating floral display looks set to excite visitors from near and far once again. For this second edition of Tulipmania, Gardens by the Bay has flown in 50,000 tulip bulbs in a myriad of varieties and colours directly from the Netherlands. Drawing inspiration from Madurodam, the miniature replica model park in Amsterdam, Netherlands, this year’s display depicts scenes of Dutch canals, houses and windmills set amidst spectacular blooms of tulips and hyacinths. Tulips Planting with Miffy at Gardens by the Bay

Tulipmania returns to Gardens by the Bay and special KLM guest Miffy was in the Gardens yesterday to plant the tulips that she’ve brought over from the Netherlands! Singapore’s largest popular tulip display – Tulipmania – is back at the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay from 14 April to 4 May 2014. This year, Gardens by the Bay will bring in some 50,000 tulip bulbs of many varieties and colors directly from the Netherlands and to join in this floral celebration, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flew Miffy – a well-loved children’s book character in to Singapore together with the tulips!

Did you know that there is a BRAND new attraction at Gardens by the Bay and it’s prickly interesting! The Sun Pavilion houses over 1,000 desert plants with more than 100 different species and varieties. This 800-square-meter cactus garden is Gardens by the Bay latest addition as well as one of the largest cacti and succulent collections in Southeast Asia.
